Meet Les and Sara Raymond

We are the founders of The Mindful Movement. We live in Maryland with our two kids and two dogs. Together, we have been in the movement field for an approximate collective 30 years.

We founded The Mindful Movement in August of 2016 because we are passionate about helping others grow and live mindful, fulfilled lives. We have both experienced profound growth and fulfillment in living a mindful lifestyle.

Together we help others live a more mindful life, deepening their awareness and sense of gratitude. We strive to inspire others to live authentically with love and abundance.

A Note from Sara

If you have followed the Mindful Movement on YouTube or the other social media platforms, you likely have heard my voice guiding meditations, possibly followed a Pilates or Yoga practice with me, and likely have seen my face in photos.  There is also a percentage of our audience who has even worked with one on one or in a small group.  No matter how you have come to know me, perhaps you have some more questions about who I am, what I believe, and how I got to where I am today.  I’d love to introduce myself if you are interested.

In my early 30’s, I realized I was drifting through life aimlessly, doing what I thought I should be doing in my career and my confidence was lacking.  I was in the “I’ll be happy when…” phase, always searching for the next thing to be a better teacher, when a mentor asked me to consider why I teach.  She asked me to look deeper than the what and how I teach.

This was a turning point in my career and incidentally, my personal life. I believe this one question was the inspiration for the start of The Mindful Movement.

As I took the time to really get to know myself and my values through movement and meditation, I realized I needed to shift my beliefs about myself and clarify my values in order to move forward.  A lot of the “What’s” in my life stayed the same.

However, the “Why’s” and the “How’s” have developed and become richer.  I began to feel empowered, confident, and fulfilled.  And this is truly when The Mindful Movement came into being.

One other big shift centered around my experience with hypnotherapy which allowed me to uncover unconscious beliefs I had about myself that were holding me back.  Once these were uncovered, it gave me the power and freedom to change my beliefs about myself to a more positive perspective.

These two significant shifts in my life have pushed me to believe in myself and I am called to help others do the same.  I am honored and grateful every day to have the opportunity to teach and guide others to experience similar empowerment, confidence, and fulfillment.  Through self-healing movement practices and mindset shifts, I help others to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, to build confidence in their own body, and to feel safe and cared for.  When people seek me out because they are stressed, anxious or feel stuck, I help them build confidence and emotional freedom.

Some of what I do...

Growing up, I played volleyball and enjoyed exercising which led me to practicing and studying Pilates and yoga and other forms of exercise.  Some of the “What’s” in my life now include co-owner at Coreworks Fitness Studio and The Mindful Movement. My technical trainings include Comprehensive Pilates instructor and Master Instructor with Balanced Body, 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, meditation teacher, Hypnotherapist, and Trauma-informed Master Coach.  I bring the variety from my educational background to my teaching style and enjoy working with all levels of students and teachers in training.

I am fortunate to have the love and support in all that I do from my rock, chef, best friend, and husband of almost 20 years, Les.  Our daughter is 19 and son is 17 and since they seem to need less help from me these days, I have taken to caring for my now large collection of house plants, vegetable garden, 2 dogs, and 8 chickens.  Even in my hobbies I enjoy taking care of people, plants and animals.
