Are you exhausted by the seemingly never-ending healing process and wondering, how do you reach this elusive state of healing, anyway?

"We’re addicted to our beliefs; we’re addicted to the emotions of our past. We see our beliefs as truths, not ideas that we can change. If we have very strong beliefs about something, evidence to the contrary could be sitting right in front of us, but we may not see it because what we perceive is entirely different. We’ve in fact conditioned ourselves to believe all sorts of things that aren’t necessarily true—and many of these things are having a negative impact on our health and happiness.”  ~Dr. Joe Dispenza

Why is it that we hear stories of spontaneous remission or miraculous healing in others, but it seems out of reach for us? What are those healed people doing right? And what are we doing wrong? Like the title suggests, are you exhausted by the seemingly never-ending healing process and wondering, how do you reach this elusive state of healing, anyway?

The answer is: it isn’t out of reach, and we aren’t doing anything wrong, we just haven’t gotten there yet.  While the answers often lie within us, guidance and strategy are important, as are patience and compassion for ourselves.

Healing is a Widely Desired “Destination,” and it is Available

One of the most popular topics on our YouTube channel and our website is healing.  The Mindful Movement community frequently asks about alternative healing options.  While meditation, hypnosis, and mindset practices do not replace the care of a medical professional, they are a profound and effective addition to the healing process.

In my hypnotherapy sessions, my favorite part is to ask the client what they would love their life to look like without the issue that brought them to the session.  Some people light up at the thought and at the possibility of their dream life.  Others have a difficult time imagining something other than the suffering they are currently experiencing.

Although everyone is different, one common desire across the majority of clients is for healing, yet each one means something different by the word. While each client’s session is unique and led by their needs and experiences, healing can be available through hypnotherapy. As the quote suggests above, many things we believe are having a negative impact on our health and happiness. With hypnotherapy, those beliefs can be shifted.

Let’s start from the beginning.

First, what does healing mean? The definition of healing is: The act or process of making or becoming whole, sound, or well.

Ok, what does this really mean for us humans?

We know what healing means (see dictionary definition above.) And we know what healing looks like. It looks like spontaneous remission of an illness and miraculous healing from an injury or other ailment.

We know what healing feels like (or at least, what we imagine it feels like.) If feels like freedom, joy, comfort, and contentment.

Healing can refer to physical or emotional; individual or collective.  Healing can be from some illness or injury that is chronic or acute.  It can be healing from something visible or invisible, tangible or intangible.  The word healing and idea of healing is vague and broad in nature, yet widely desired.

Now to break down the process and understand how the method can be applied.

In my workshops, I go into detail about how the mind can either be used as a partner or an opposition for moving us towards what we want.  For today’s article, I will focus on three main ideas about how the mind works that relate to suffering and healing.

  1. The mind moves us towards pleasure and away from pain.
    • This means what we LABEL as painful, uncomfortable, or undesirable, the mind will find a way to avoid, defer, or protect us from.
    • AND what we LABEL as pleasurable, comfortable, or desirable, the mind will find a way to show us opportunities to support this.
  2. The mind moves us towards familiar and away from unfamiliar.
    • Our actions are driven by our beliefs which are familiar and make habit changes difficult and almost impossible to change without changing the driving beliefs first.
    • When we can understand what that driving belief is, we are empowered to make the change we desire.  The change is often with a lot less effort and willpower required than without this understanding.
  3. The mind responds to the words and pictures we offer ourselves.
    • Negative self-talk is sending negative messages to our mind, which may lead to a painful label.
    • These negative words can lead to the mind becoming an opposition from what we really want.  If you wouldn’t say something to a loved one, consider why you might say it to yourself.

The Mindful Movement can support you on this journey.

Your beliefs drive your behaviors and as I mentioned before, can either support your wellbeing or detract from it.  To change a behavior, all the will power in the world won’t out smart your beliefs.  Will power fatigues just like a muscle will when overused, which is why the success rate of diets is so low.  Therefore, to change a behavior, you must change your belief that is driving that behavior.  And the first step is to uncover the specific belief that is the cause.

In hypnosis, we are connecting with the emotional (not logical) part of our mind to discover these beliefs.  This is why working with a hypnotherapist can be a great way to heal from many physical and emotional issues. If you are new to the world of hypnosis and are interested in learning more, here is a self-healing hypnosis practice you can start with. If you commit to practicing hypnosis, positive beliefs can begin to imprint in your subconscious in as little as 21 days.

To go even deeper and be guided on the journey, one of our workshops or a one-on-one session can be a profoundly effective step of the process to move you even farther forward.  We just opened up our Healing Hypnotherapy workshop for self-study, so you can start today!

In this workshop, you will rewire and reprogram your mind for powerful self-healing so that you can release negative thought cycles and unwanted behaviors, process your emotions effectively, and choose healthy options easily.

Additionally, if you decide you want to work one on one with a hypnotherapist, I’d love to help you!
